I also found this book a little difficult to get into because of the style of writing and often found myself having to re - read sentences. So pleased I persevered ... because I nearly didn't - and I would have missed out on this gorgeous life affirming book. A engaging story of realism and fairy tale, told in beautiful language. I usually pass books on after reading them, but this one's for keeps!

About the author
Sarah Winman grew up in Essex and now lives in London. She attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and went on to act in theatre, film and television. She has written four novels, WHEN GOD WAS A RABBIT, A YEAR OF MARVELLOUS WAYS, TIN MAN and STILL LIFE.
