About this ebook

Russ leads a pretty laid-back life these days. After serving his whole career in the Marine Corps, he came back to the town where he grew up and opened a gym.

He has a great house on the lake, he loves his business and what it does for his clients, and he has a great bunch of friends. Life is good.

Okay, so he doesn’t have a woman. He doesn’t need one. Doesn’t think he’d want one. He’s finally building a real relationship with his daughter. But she’s the only woman he can see in his future.

When Alexandria DuPont walks into the gym, all Russ sees is a stressed-out, aloof woman – but even then, he senses that there’s more to her. Perhaps she’s an acquired taste, like fine wine.

Alexandria DuPont is not in Summer Lake by choice, but of necessity.

Some people might not see it as necessity, but she most certainly does. She’s recuperating. She was rushed into the hospital at home in Napa just before Christmas with a suspected heart attack.

It wasn’t a heart attack. It might almost have been easier to face people if it were. But no, it was an anxiety attack. Her father would turn in his grave! He raised her to be stronger than that.

So, she’s in Summer Lake to recuperate – she’s not hiding out, not really.

She’s supposed to be taking it easy, but she doesn’t know how. She’s the matriarch of DuPont Wineries. She runs the company, it’s what she was raised to do, all she’s ever known.

A trip to the local gym is outside her comfort zone. The attraction she feels toward Russ is even further outside her comfort zone. As their friendship grows, Russ makes her wonder whether it might be time to leave her comfort zone behind and step into a whole new life.

Normally I fall in love with the characters within the first chapters, but it took me some time to apreciate Alexandria. It's not that I didn't like her, she just made the wrong first impression. But she's like a caterpillar, she'll tansform into a beautiful butterfly Ria! People can change if they can be themselves. This made it an interesting read, meeting old and new friends at the Lake!

again SJ has produced a cracking story with her characteristic 'Sweet and steamy' style. The characters are totally believable and feel like old friends. The storyline introduces new characters, worthy of their own books,as well as old friends from previous books. All SJ's books can be read as stand alone stories but if you've read previous books the reader gets even more depth to the characters. Thank-you SJ

Alexandria DuPont (Ria), the matriarch is DuPont Wineries, came to Summer Lake to recuperate after a stress and anxiety attack that she encountered. She decided getting away was an easier way to face people than explaining her health issues to everyone. Her friend offered her home in Summer Lake to Alexandria and suggested she go to the gym to work off her anxiety. Russ Lloyd, a retired ex-marine, was living a laid back life style operating the gym he had opened. Alexandria decided to go to the gym when Russ’s friends were there wrestling & playing around. She took one look at the men and chose to leave. Russ came after her, explaining the gym was closed that day but for her to come back the following day. Alexandria encounters Russ when she goes for a run. He sees her as a stressed, unhappy person who needs to find a new direction in her life. He nicknames her “Ria” and a calm, comfortable friendship happens. Both have past issues to work through but with the help of friends and family, new paths are formed. Summer Lake is once again a wonderful place to revisit with so many familiar characters. Love these fifty plus aged stories! Can’t wait to read the next Summer Lake Book!

About the author

Hi, I'm SJ, a coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.

I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.

I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.

These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way.
