Paxton and Cherise make a call to see what is holding up the paperwork that will clear Paxton to go back to work. What happens next put them in the middle of a conspiracy. As different soldiers hold Cherise at gunpoint, they hear different stories on how the soldiers were forced to pay the doctors. Much to Paxton’s chagrin, Cherise has no fear standing up to the soldiers even when there is a gun to her head. Of course, Paxton and Cherise get close.

A 3.5 stars entertaining romantic suspense read. This book is heavier on the romance part, not much action, so I kinda felt a bit dissapointed on that part, but the banter between Cherise and Paxton so cute fun and adorable, so it's still super entertaining, I love those flirty moments, love how comfortable they are around each other and how restless Paxton is when they're separate, Paxton needs to keep an eye on her all the time, that's just so sweet.

The intrigue starts right away and continues building into a major murder and blackmail scheme. A group of medical professionals is preying on soldiers recovering from their injuries, who want to get on with their lives and careers. Cherise, a paper pusher on base somehow has been drawn into this scheme and now she is in danger. Paxton and Cherise are working together to try to unravel this crime. Their growing friendship and respect open their eyes to what the could have. Linda
