About this ebook

“Robin Hobb is one of our very best fantasy writers.”
New York Times bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson

With Dragon Keeper, Robin Hobb, critically acclaimed, New York Times bestselling “master fantasist” (Baltimore Sun), begins a breathtaking  new series about the resurgence of dragons in a world that both needs and fears them—the world Hobb’s readers most recently visited in her immensely popular “Tawny Man” trilogy. Volume One of the Rain Wilds Chronicles, Dragon Keeper is yet another magnificent adventure from the author of  The Soldier Son and Farseer Trilogies, confirming the Contra Costa Times of California’s assessment of Hobb as “one of the most important writers in 21st century fantasy.”

For a book titled "Dragon Keeper," there is a truly mountainous blockage of dialogue committed to characters that have nothing to do with dragons. Honestly, if I wanted to read a Regency comedy of manners, I would pick out an Austen title. I skipped whole pages of Alise and Hest's interminable monologues and dialogue, only to find - it didn't change the thrust of the plot at all. Most of the named characters have little bearing on the flow of events, and are generally banal and unlikable - Hest and Alise are exemplars. It rather smacks of padding - this needed a good editor which it did not receive.

Amazing author; knows when to withhold info to reveal later at the right moment, and when to tell-all. Keeps a reader going, always involved always in the moment and ready for the next... one my newest favorite authors, although this is the second series I've read by this author. Final comment- invest in Robin Hobb books.... they tell well.

A complicated & convoluted tale introducing powerful characters, settings, and concepts. Not the dragons you are thinking about but that is her talent. Showing us another side of our expectations. About what you should expect from Robin Hobb.
