I've read this book back in middle school. Absolutely loved it and totally forgot it til I was looking for books on here. Such a great story

loved it when I read it in highschool and love it now, such a great story really grabs you, can't put it down.

This is one of the best books I have ever read ever. It had everything that is awesome!
About the author
More than a decade after his death, Robert Westall retains his reputation as one of the most powerful writers for children. He was awarded two Carnegie Medals (for The Machine Gunners and The Scarecrows) and used his own childhood experiences of the Second World War in his books.
