THE SUNDAY TIMES CRIME NOVEL OF THE YEAR 2023
________

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside.

The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organisation that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.

In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner Robin Ellacott decides to infiltrate the cult and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito amongst them. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her . . .

Utterly page-turning, The Running Grave moves Strike and Robin's story forward in the epic, unforgettable seventh instalment of the series.

I had high expectations because I absolutely loved the last 6 books, but there were 2 things that disappointed me: 1. The case was sometimes quite boring (obviously just my opinion). Obviously Robin had a horrible time but the descriptions of the days were sometimes quite repetitive, which could've been shortened and instead put the focus on the general "relationships" between the different characters (which came too short in this book in my opinion) 2. the ending wasn't really satisfactory for me. I know that there will be (hopefully) more books and this wasn't the end, but it seemed very rushed and especially the last few pages seemed a bit out of character and the character development seemed to regress. In the beginning R and C are much more aware of/seem more okay with their feelings than in the end. I hope the next books will again get the 5 stars the other 6 books got.

I have loved all the Cormoran Strike books and this one is no exception. J K Rowling's writing just captures me. Her ability to build a world that you as a reader get totally sucked into is unparalleled. The mystery reveal is as per usual brilliant. And the Strike - Robin dynamic is everything I hoped it would be. I'm totally invested in this series and can't wait for the next book !

I was intrigued by the Strike series. So, I bought the e-book and tried it on laptop but was not able to read using my 'screen-reading software - JAWS'. So, I switched to reading on my android mobile. Though I couldn't control the reading word-speed, I followed the pce being used to it. It was pleasure competing the book within 24 hours. As per the book, I enjoyed it overall, although I felt something wanting wrt emotion element, especially between Strike and Robin; after JKR answers to 20 Qs
