Ride All Night

Fresh from Australia, Beth is working at Wilde’s Hotel while waiting for an acting role in Hollywood. Up-and-coming movie action star Grim McKinley is doing some research at Wilde’s for a role; his brother Rusty is a member of the Raising Hellfire MC. Beth figures that since she’s got the hots for Grim, he could be her ticket to fame and fortune, so she decides to slip into his bed and seduce Grim, but she finds his brother Rusty instead. Well, while Ms. De Winton couldn’t have known about what has recently transpired in the entertainment industry, it’s a rather uncomfortable moment for a “casting couch” story. I shudder at the thought at how RIDE ALL NIGHT would fare if the pursuer wasn’t a woman. Beth basically aspires to sleep her way to the top, and I felt she came off as both very naïve and extremely calculating. While I knew going in that was her intention, I expected it to be short-lived, but it was not. She certainly was lucky that Rusty is a really, really nice guy. In my book, Beth is certainly not a heroine to emulate, but then again, maybe I’m old-fashioned… On the other hand, I loved Rusty, and I felt sorry for him – and unfortunately until the very end. I felt he got the short end of the stick, and only ended up with Beth because Grim just didn’t care for her whatsoever. Beth even had the nerve to give Rusty attitude after she provoked a disastrous incident, due to her sheer lack of judgement. I also liked Grim very much as a character; yes, he was a jerk, but he felt real, he was complex and interesting, even if he was “the heavy”. All the motorcycle and biker related stuff was excellent, as well as everything surrounding the TV reality show that Beth and Rusty are working on. The interactions between Rusty and Grim were terrific, but I felt that Rusty deserved better than Beth. She seemed to me little more than an opportunistic floozy, and a Jessica Rabbit look-alike who should have gone straight to Hollywood, double-Ds and all, when she got what she wanted. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Not the typical gritty and raw MC read but not a bad book either. It has interesting characters, great writing and flow, and an intriguing storyline. Overall it was very entertaining. Beth Ravens has lived a sheltered life up until now bust she's determined to make it big in Hollywood and she's willing to do whatever it takes. Never did she plan on getting caught up between two brothers. One kind, loving, and completely wrong for her while the other is self absorbed and manipulative but could help her acting career immensely. Will she follow her heart or her head when it comes to the McKinley brothers? I would recommend this one.

A bad boy, a good girl and a chaotic attraction. Ride All Night surprised me. It was a refreshing story of mistaken identity, big star dreams and unspeakable lust. Beth, Grim and Rusty are the perfect blend of humor, angst and attraction. Beth is the girl with big star dreams, living an ordinary life. Enter Grim, the man that could be her free ride, if her attraction to his brother Rusty doesn't get in the way. Ms. De Winton packs on the laughter as she reels in the heart. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!
