I have... mixed feelings about this. The story itself is interesting, the characters are.. ok, Seethlaw was probably the only one I was actually interested in reading about but the way it goes about it is.. tiring? It felt like a chore, felt like a relief when i finally got to the end. Got interesting near the end then just kinda fizzled out. No plans on re-reading and I'll probably buy the second one if I'm drunk and bored and feeling masochistic otherwise...Pass.

The story, characters and flow of the book are excellent. It's a very gritty book with plenty of realism. However what's with all the gay sex scenes? It's almost like a soft core gay sex book. I get the protagonist is gay, no issues with that but it just became too. I read 3/4 of the book and had to stop. A real shame.

Richard Morgan was, until his writing career took off, a tutor at Strathclyde University in the English Language Teaching division. He has travelled widely and lived in Spain and Istanbul. He is a fluent Spanish speaker. Winner of the Athur C. Clarke, John W. Campbell and Philip K. Dick Awards his books are published around the world. He lives in Norwich with his family.
