Riccardo Morandi ci ha lasciato il giorno di Natale 1989, a 87 anni compiuti. Fino all'ultimo giorno ha continuato ad operare con indomito vigore, con la volontà, la grinta, la lucidità di sempre. Quello che ci ha lasciato è molto; già da alcuni anni era stato avviato il bilancio culturale di tale retaggio, ma molto rimane ancora da fare. E' per questo che un gruppo di Istituzioni e persone che lo hanno conosciuto e visto all'opera hanno pensato di organizzare alcune attività volte sia a rendere omaggio alla sua personalità, sia a proseguire e accelerare il processo di studio sopra menzionato. Tali attività culminano in alcune manifestazioni culturali, organizzate in Convegno, che prevedono: la presentazione di un film documentario appositamente predisposto, una mostra antologica delle opere, una rivisitazione fotografica di alcune realizzazioni, il presente volume con relazioni scientifiche su vari aspetti dell'opera di Morandi e testimonianze sulla sua figura, una tavola rotonda sul tema a lui tanto caro: Il cemento armato e il suo futuro, l'avvio di un concorso/borse di studio per giovani. La realizzazione del presente volume è stata resa possibile dal contributo appassionato di studiosi, amici ed estimatori di Riccardo Morandi attraverso saggi e testimonianze. In December 1989 Riccardo Morandi passed away at the age of 87. Until the last day of his life he continued to work with great energy and his usual will, eagerness and lucidity. The heritage he left behind is considerable and an initial assessment was made a few years ago, however a lot still remains to be done. This is why a group of institutes and people who, were acquainted with him and had seen him at work, thought of organising a number of activities with a view to paying him a tribute and accelerating the above-mentioned process of assessment.
