This one feels like a direct continuation of Pop Star so you can read it directly after buying the third book with no time slippage whatsoever. The usual predictable formula: mackenzie stirs up trouble, Nikki saves the day in her dorky way, her family does wacky stuff and Nikki gets her crush. The art style gets a little sloppy and I'm super dissapointed because it looks like someone else drew it! The first book had nicer art and this one was a let down. Oh, and if you're excited about Brandon and Nikki kissing, yeah this book has that too but other than that, a brainless read with a familiar tone.

About the author

Rachel Renee Russell is a lawyer who prefers writing children's books to legal briefs (mainly because books are a lot more fun and pyjamas and bunny slippers aren't allowed in court). She has raised two daughters and lived to tell about it. Rachel lives in northern Virginia with a spoiled pet Yorkie who terrorises her daily by climing on top of her computer and pelting her with stuffed animals while she writes. And, yes, Rachel considers herself a total Dork.
