Plant Small RNA for Food Crops provides foundational insights into the role of small RNA in food crops in varying environmental conditions and how it can help in developing molecular frameworks to support agricultural sustainability to feed the world's population. Small RNA populations have been widely identified in various plants and have been reported to be involved in regulating the molecular functioning of plants and their responses for biotic and abiotic environmental factors. Until now, however, a detailed compilation of role of small RNAs in food crops growth, yield and environmental responses had been unavailable. This book provides a detailed description of role of various small RNAs whose utilization in a range of food crops may serve to improve sustainability, productivity, and maintenance during environmental stress conditions. It brings together the reported small RNAs along with their applications specific to food crops, but also covers recent studies, innovations and future perspectives. - Provides identification and characterization of small RNA in a variety of food crops - Emphasizes molecular mechanisms affected by small RNA and their application in supporting growth, survival and productivity - Presents a comprehensive view of small RNA mediated genomics, metabolomics, proteomics and physiology of food crops

作者简介

Praveen Guleria is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at DAV University, Jalandhar, Punjab, India. She has worked in the areas of Plant Biotechnology, Plant Metabolic Engineering and Plant Stress Biology at CSIR- Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, Palampur, H.P. India.Her research interests include plant stress biology, plant small RNA Biology, plant epigenomics and nanotoxicity. She has published several research articles in various peer-reviewed journals. She is also serving as the editorial board member and reviewer for certain international peer reviewed journals. She has been awarded the SERB- Start Up Grant by DST, GOI. She has also been awarded the prestigious “Bharat Gaurav Award by the India International Friendship Society, New Delhi. She has also received various awards like CSIR/ ICMR- Junior research Fellowship, CSIR- Senior research fellowship, State level merit scholarship awards.

Vineet Kumar is presently working as a National Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology, School of Life Sciences at Central University of Rajasthan, Rajasthan, India. He earned his Ph.D. (2018) in Environmental Microbiology from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (A Central) University, Lucknow, India. His research interests include waste management, bioremediation, phytoremediation, metagenomics, wastewater treatment, environmental monitoring, bioplastic, and biofuel production. He has published more than 45 articles in peer-reviewed international journals of repute, 54 book chapters, and 4 scientific magazine articles, with more than citations of 2100, and h-index of 26. In addition, he has published 2 authored and 22 edited books on various aspects of science and engineering by Elsevier, Springer, CRC Press, RSC, and Wiley. He has been serving as a guest editor and reviewer in more than 50 International Journals for his research area. He is an active member of numerous scientific societies including the Microbiology Society (UK), the Indian Science Congress Association (India), the Association of Microbiologists of India (India), etc.

Beixin Mo is a “Distinguished Professor of Guangdong Province Talent Special Support Plan. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Plant Developmental and Molecular Biology from Peking University, China, and received her Ph.D. degree from Guelph University, Canada. Her research area includes elucidation of molecular mechanisms involved in the biogenesis, degradation and movement of plant small RNAs. She has received extensive research funding and published over 50 papers in distinguished journals, such as Nature Communications, Nature Plants, the Plant Cell and Genome Biology
