Peter Faber war einer der ersten Gefährten des heiligen Ignatius und einer, der mit ihm am vertrautesten war. Ignatius sagte über ihn, er habe die Exerzitien am besten gegeben. In einer zerrissenen Zeit suchte Faber unvoreingenommen das Gespräch über theologische und kirchenpolitische Gräben hinweg. Ein stiller Mann von einfacher Frömmigkeit, war er doch ein weltläufiger Geist: ständig unterwegs in Europa und Deutschland und zugleich im "Himmel" zu Hause. Vielleicht wird er deshalb von Papst Franziskus so sehr geschätzt, dass er ihn gleich im ersten Jahr seines Pontifikats heiliggesprochen hat.
