About the author
Patrick Cockburn is the 2014 Foreign Affairs Journalist of The Year and an acclaimed Middle East correspondent for The Independent. He has authored hundreds of articles covering the ISIS menace in the Middle East for The Independent and is the author of The Rise of Islamic State: ISIS and the New Sunni Revolution (2015).
