P.C. Cast ist in Illinois geboren und pendelte während ihrer Jugend oft nach Oklahoma. Dort hat sie ihre Liebe für Quarter Horses und Mythologie entdeckt. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Kindern konnte sie zuerst reiten und lernte danach das Gehen. Später las sie jedes Buch, das sie in die Hände bekommen hat, bis ihr Vater der Zehnjährigen den Herr der Ringe geschenkt hat. Nach Tolkiens Meisterwerk hat sie Anne McCafferys Pern-Romane für sich entdeckt, und damit war ihre Leidenschaft für Fantasy vollends entbrannt.
