Subsequent chapters focus on the theoretical aspects of fiber optics; fibers and cables used in optical transmission; transmitters and receivers; and waveguides, couplers, connectors, and repeaters. Communication systems and the techniques used in optoelectronic testing are also considered. This monograph is intended for practicing electronic and telecommunications engineers, technicians, and students who would like to be aware of the basic fundamentals and capabilities of fiber optics.
