About this ebook

Eighteen stories of aching realism reveal the mysteries and perils of romantic promise. These are lyrical, sometimes magical stories whose characters are "fully fleshed out, living and breathing"; who crave, and sometimes find, light in the labyrinths of the heart.

The book has two sections of nine stories each. Strange Love offers twists that challenge not only love affairs, but also narrative expectations. When love plays a deadly game with reality, the next move is dangerous. Yet without love's sly magic, what moves are left?

Romance Not For Sale presents stories about love that never quite lives up to the romantic promise our culture leads us to expect. These stories resolve instead with a philosophic perspective, a touch of irony, a way to carry on.
