No hat, no play

Your friend excitedly tells you about the sweet note her child received from another parent: “I appreciate the kindness your child showed my child today in school.” You smile politely as you imagine your own child getting a note like that. “Oh, forget it. He’s too unkind to ever get a note like that”, you convince yourself.
