About this ebook

The last thing Brooke the mermaid needs right now is her mother showing up in Purgatory Falls to "help" her get organized to leave town. For one thing, she has a street fair to help with in a few days, and she's also just tripped over a headless man in an alley. She has murders to solve!

But she did make her family a promise that she would leave the paranormal town and return to the human world, so while she figures out if a series of murders might be the work of one serial killer, she weighs her options carefully. Adding to her confusion, all her friends want her to stay—except the one who matters most. Aiden, a dragon shifter she's become close to, seems strangely distant and might be planning a new life of his own.

Will dealing with a serial killer in Purgatory Falls be the biggest challenge of Brooke's life? Or will it be figuring out where she really wants to call home?

By far my favorite in series so far. I felt like it had a very even pace throughout the entire story. The plot developed, little by little as you read the story vs a big rush at the end. While she didn't play a huge role in the book, we did finally get to meet Brooke's mother and learn a little more about her background. In addition, all of usual favorites are back in this book, and you truly see how much of a family they are all becoming. I can't wait for the next installment!

About the author

Nikki Haverstock is a writer who lives on a small ranch high in the Rocky Mountains. She has studied comedy writing at Second City and has published over twenty cozy, space and paranormal mysteries that are heavy on the humor.

Before fleeing the city, she hosted a competitive archery reality show, traveled the world to study volcanoes, taught archery and computer science at a university and worked on her family’s ranch herding cattle. Nikki has more college degrees than she has sense and hopefully one day she will put one to work.

Nikki likes to write comedy pieces that focus on the humor of family, friends and everyday life. She tried stand up but the cattle weren’t impressed.
