About this eBook

The Internet is crashing. Will hackers save it?

Warning: every single event reported in this novel is truly realistic and could actually happen!

Follow the breath-taking crash of the Internet, as seen from the headquarters of the big corporations in the US and from the point of view of everyday users, hospitals, public administrations and small companies on the other side of the ocean, in Italy.

A shockingly realistic cyberthriller,

inspired by the latest developments in cloud computing,

casting a sinister shadow

on the way our future relies on technology

What if the Internet of monster data centers owned by the big corporations would suddenly crash?

The warning signs had been there for quite some time, but they had not been noticed due to the widespread optimism, and to the many financial interests.

After NASDAQ crashed a few years earlier, the landscape of internet companies resulted profoundly changed, with stratospheric global aggregate concentrations.

“The cloud is the great mother,

the world utherus,

the supreme custodian of our memory...

Bullshit. The cloud is dark,

ominous and heavy with rain.

The cloud is dirty.”

How can a simple typo by a programmer cause trouble to a big search engine?

What’s the link between an underwater cable cut by a fishing boat in the Gulf of Oman and an experimental data center built on a platform offshore Norway?

What’s the link between the breach of a server by a mistery international hacker team and a programming error in the software running the devices that control internet traffic?

A trivial human mistake.

A series of unfortunate events.

A battle against time.

The Internet is crashing. Will hackers save it?
