India is on a complete 21-day lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The Odisha government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had taken a series of proactive measures even before Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced stringent measures to combat the global pandemic. Recognised globally for its response to natural disasters in the two decades since the devastating 1999 super cyclone, Odisha became the first state in the country to go in for a partial lockdown on March 21. A few days, it became the first state to announce two dedicated Covid hospitals.
