I consider Twilight a guilty pleasure of mine. I was super obsessed with it in highschool, kept re-reading the books over for 2 years. I'm a wuss and stopped admitting to people that I'm into this, but I found out that as an adult too I keep coming back to this series (let's face it, what fan wouldn't love their own personal Edward?) and it sort of became one of my comfort series. I didn't keep up at all with the author's website or anything, so this year, when I installed this app just for fun and saw that this book exists, I flipped! I always wanted to know Edward's perspective ❤️ Also, I couldn't help noticing how well written it is, compared to Twilight, which I think it could have been written better. Really, this blew my mind. I would love to read more in Edward's narrative voice, but I understand the author, his head is definitely not a fun place to be. Some people find his overthinking too much (himself included), but it makes perfect sense to the story that he is like this.

I wasn't expecting to be so wonderfully sucked into this side of this very familiar story. I have been glued to it and had to read it straight through. While all the highlights were, not only touched upon but expanded so satisfyingly, alot of new story lines were weaved beautifully through. One of my favourite parts was enjoying more of Emmett's quips, Alice's visions, and a deeper understanding of the way the Cullen Clan think and interact with each other. I truly hope that the remaining 3 books are brought to life again through Edwards eyes. Had they been available i would have very happily continued walking through this world with new eyes.

14 years ago I read Twilight. In my personal life I was in love for the first time and the book spoke to me about finding your soul mate. I was completely overwhelmed by the book and how happy it made me. Now I'm all grown up. Happily married to my first love. Have a beautiful child. So I thought Midnight Sun would speak to me again, in the same way. I know the ending now 🙂 and both Bella and I got our happily ever after. But I found the book disturbing. To make sure I'm not over reacting, I read Twilight again. Yes... Disturbing. 1. A lot of the scenes don't match. I understand the first draft was leaked and she had to make changes, but wow... There are some BIG changes to crucial points in the book. 2. I understand now how the whole series is normalising unhealthy relationships. I don't want my child to think it's okay to basically stalk the person they love. Or to think it is okay to be stalked by someone. 3. Writing is still a work in progress. This book broke my Twilight bubble.
