Zwischen Yvonne und Panaolo ist es Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Doch kaum ist er auf dem Reiterhof angekommen, soll er bereits wieder verkauft werden. Yvonne versucht den Verkauf zu verhindern, aber es gelingt ihr nicht. An ihrem Geburtstag erlebt sie allerdings eine Überraschung. Ihre Eltern schenken ihr Panaolo. Bei einem Ausritt läuft Panaolo aus zunächst unerklärlichen Gründen auf die Autobahn. Panaolo wird von einem Auto erfasst und Yvonne landet mit schweren Verletzungen im Krankenhaus.
Kaum wird Yvonne aus dem Krankenhaus entlassen, zieht es sie natürlich zu Panaolo in den Stall.
Der Anblick ihres geliebten Pferdes ist ein Schock für sie. Yvonne erkennt ihr Pferd kaum wieder. Er lässt niemanden mehr an sich heran. Daraufhin soll Panaolo getötet werden. Doch Yvonne kämpft mit allen Mitteln dagegen und Panaolo darf fürs Erste am Leben bleiben. Um Panaolo vor dem Tod zu retten, reist Yvonne mit ihren Eltern und Panaolo zu einem Pferdeflüsterer nach Amerika. Sie setzt alle Hoffnungen in Mr. Brown und hofft, dass er Panaolo helfen kann.
