Michael Schuman studierte Asienwissenschaften, Politik und Internationale Beziehungen. Seit 2002 ist er China-Korrespondent für das Time Magazine. Zuvor war er Korrespondent des Wall Street Journal in Südkorea, Singapur und Indonesien und berichtete für das Forbes Magazine. Der Autor lebt in Peking.
