About this eBook

The present play is based on the love story of Mastani and Bajirao in that of the contemporary context of social background. The present play "Mastani kaa Bajirao" is a Hindi translation of the famous Marathi play "Mastani chaa Bajirao", written by the most famouas Marathi author Murlidhar Javadekar. Maratha ruler Bajirao Peshwa wins the battle of Bundelkhand from Mughals and takes his army to the King Chhatrasal of Bundelkhand.  He is impressed by the beauty and dance of Mastani. On the other hand, Mastani also falls in love with Bajirao. He tells her that he is married. Kashibai is his wife and he has a son also, yet both of them start loving each other. Mastani is the child of Hindu father and Muslim mother, so this relationship is opposed by the Brahmins. Bajirao knows that Mastani is not getting respect, so he feels hurted for her and makes a separate palace for Mastani namely "Mastani-Mahal". The play is mainly centered on the characters of Chhatrapati, Pratinidhi, Nanasahb, Dilawar, Kashi, Shamsher, Bajirao and Mastani. Here is one hand Mastani has absolute love for Bajirao which is worship and God for her and the other side, Bajirao is fastened between religion and relationships. The son of these two, Shamsher (Son of Mastani and Bajirao), who suffers from all the ignorance silently and even without their guilt or fault, he sees his mother and father struggling in the present and existing social order.
