About this ebook

From the NUMBER ONE bestselling author of A Christmas Murder, Mary Grand

It was meant to be a safe place to start again...

In need of an escape from her failing marriage, Nia agrees to house-sit her aunt’s cottage on the Isle of Wight. She feels sure the cosy close in a quaint harbour town will be a safe place to hide and figure out what to do next.

But things are not all as they seem in the close, and the neighbours who welcome her with open arms, are keeping secrets. When Nia finds the body of one of her new friends lying on the beach, she feels sickeningly sure that the killer is dangerously near to home.

Who killed her friend and why did she have to die? And if Nia discovers the answers she’s looking for, is she next on their hit list? Good neighbours may become good friends, but they can also make deadly enemies...

“Good Neighbours can become deadly enemies…” It is always nerve racking when you go to a new place not knowing what your neighbours are going to be like. Will they be friendly and all in your business? Will they be rowdy? Or will they just co-exist with an exchange of just a pleasantry if you happen to cross paths and nothing more? (personally this is my preference!) For our lead Nia, when the opportunity presents itself to housesit her Aunty’s cottage on the Isle of Wight, she jumps at the chance. It’s the perfect place for her to hide away from her controlling husband. The neighbours are friendly and she quickly bonds with them, but when she discovers the body of her new friend Ruby on the beach, she soon realises the close is definitely no Ramsey Street and everyone has secrets to hide. This slow burning psychological thriller whodunit had me compelled to keep flicking the pages in search of answers as to why Ruby was a target and who was hiding what. Grand always does a great job of drawing the reader in and making you a part of the story as she vividly brings it life, which I love when this happens. Good Neighbours is a cleverly plotted and executed tale with a cast of well crafted characters. I loved its atmospheric location which made for a great backdrop, its sinister and ominous undertones and its red herrings kept it interesting. All up I really enjoyed this book and I look from to reading more from Grand.
