Martha Sophie Marcus wurde 1972 im Landkreis Schaumburg geboren, studierte in Hannover Germanistik, Pädagogik und Soziologie und verbrachte anschließend zwei Jahre in Cambridge. Heute lebt Martha Sophie Marcus mit ihrer Familie in Lüneburg. Im Herbst 2016 erhielt sie den Kulturförderpreis des Landkreises Lüneburg in der Sparte »Literatur«.
