I came across this series by accident. I have been on a mafia romance kick lately, and these books definitely check all the boxes, suspense, action, crime, passion, and in its own dark way romance. I am not going to take away a star for this because this book was FANTASTIC! semi- spoiler: Maeve never told Jack she loved him, and we never got to witness his reaction to hearing those words coming from her. However, she did think it. These are books are VERY hard to put down because of all the action and suspense they do keep you on the edge of your seat. With that being said, I read this book in a day. I would recommend this series to other suspense, action, crime, and dark romance lovers out there.

Maeve needs help to pay off her drug addict brothers debt so she decides to go to her best friend’s brother Jack for help because she didn’t know where else to turn. When they were younger Jack was really mean to Maeve and bullied her but deep down, he liked her. What will he demand as payback? Vi brings us a well written mafia story that you won’t want to miss out on. Lot’s twist and turns and surprises. Great job Ms. Carter.

I loved the Wild Irish series and I was so excited to see this spin off series. This is the first book in what I know is going to be a fabulous series, and I loved it. Jack is the perfect anti-hero. He hasn't always been nice to Maeve, and this adds some tension to their relationship. There's also the issue of the family and Jack showing everyone that they shouldn't mess with him. The story is dark and intense, and there are a lot of suspenseful moments that kept me glued to the pages.
