I have read a number of Ms Evans' books, however this is the first in a contemporary genre and it's very different to her Historical Romances. I had to put aside my preconceived ideas about the book, and judge it purely by its content and story line. The book is complex in that the characters are dealing with the death of wild child Lizzie, which has affected all of them in one way or another. For some, they were able to assess the situation and move on, rating her death as a senseless accident. However, for Tyler, it wasn't so simple. He had to blame someone. His choice of perpetrator was unfortunate as it was the young woman he had loved above all else. Despite his brains and business accumen, Tyler is remarkably immature in his handling of grief and the way in which he lashes out when things don't go his way. When his previous girlfriend and lover comes back into his life to assist him with his niece who is his ward, the old sparks fly, but so do the anger, resentment and allegations of betrayal. The push and pull between Tyler and Emily made me want to give Tyler a good head slap and my heart went out to Emily as she had to endure Tyler's mood swings for the sake of Haley, who had already had too many losses in her young life. I loved the supporting characters, particularly the quirky Chase, who despite his dress code seemed to have a very good head on his shoulders! Although this is a fairly quick read, it has depth and delightful characters. I received a free copy of this book as a gift, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I enjoyed Tyler and Emily's path to love. It's a heartbreaking story of two people brought together over tragedy to care for one sweet little girl who lost her mother. The story has some drama, misplaced blame, passion, love and romance. I enjoyed this story from beginning until the very end.

The loss of a best friend to one and a sister to the other brings an end to an otherwise beautiful love as blame is made and trust is lost. An orphaned little girl who not only loses her mother but also her grandmother brings these two broken lovers back together in the same household. The undeniable attraction and love for each other once again blooms in two hearts that cannot stay apart. A great read!
