Hello pirates! How have I missed this series up until now? Pirate's Promise by Lisa Kessler is a exciting adventure with the perfect blend of great characters, suspense and steamy heat. It made for a hard book to put down. Greyson and Aura. Trust issues, strong streaks of stubbornness, and their love of weapons. These two were made for each other. The chemistry between them was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed how it went from ‘Oh no, not Him/Her’ to ‘I can’t live without you’. The story had the perfect blend of heat and suspense, with a dash of levity and great secondary characters. Let us also not forget, PIRATES! I loved how, despite how old they were, these pirates felt very modern. I look forward to backtracking and reading their stories. I really enjoyed Greyson and Aura’s story and has sparked my interest in wanting to know more about the other coupled up characters. This is most certainly a great series and while Pirate’s Promise worked out very well for me as a standalone, I highly suggested reading the Sentinels of Savannah Series so you don’t miss out on all that yummy goodness. Stars: 4 I received this book from Netgalley. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertain

Sea Dog crew are back and as salty as ever! They may be Immortal but that sure doesn't prevent them from finding trouble. The crew is also expanding at a rate of knots with all these soulmates they keep finding. Now the crew's master gunner is in Cupid's crosshairs! Department 13 oare supposed to be the good guys but with any shady, grey area government department sometimes they do more harm than good. But when they are the ones to lose an ancient relic, this time it's the Pirates turn to get them out of hot water. But they are going to have a bit of a voyage beforehand - the relic has turned up in Scotland - once home of said Master Gunner! Add in Dept 13 counterparts, obviously, of course, MI13 and there is an international incident just waiting to happen! I was going to love this book from the outset. A - Immortal Pirates B - Set in Scotland and C - Kickbutt Agent Aura Henderson! Okay so B means I'm a wee bit biased - I am actually Scottish but there is nothing worse than a badly written Scots character or setting and this had neither! Aura may have her doubts about the veracity and staying power of a bunch of pirates but her newly minted partner has her wires buzzing. Greyson sure is easy on the eyes (okay brain cells if we're being pedantic). Dirty deals, double agents, body stealing demons, werewolves - there is something for everyone to enjoy. The characters are scrappy, sparky, intelligent and have great chemistry. The Sea Dog is almost a character itself and the camaraderie of the crew is like one big, dysfunctional family. They may have bones to pick with each other (you can't be together for centuries and not fall out over something) but you go up against one and they'll all come after you! Hoist the main sail my hearties and sail away with the Sea Dog crew!

A cursed weapon goes missing causing Greyson and Aura to join forces to recover it safely while danger and sparks fly. Another excellent tale in the Sentinels of Savannah that is not to be missed. Thanks to publisher and netgalley for the tale. Opinions are entirely my own.
