About this ebook

JACK REACHER NEVER LOOKS BACK . . . UNTIL NOW.

'There's only one Jack Reacher. Accept no substitutes.' - Mick Herron.

The present can be tense . . .

A young couple trying to get to New York City are stranded at a lonely motel in the middle of nowhere. Before long they're trapped in an ominous game of life and death.

But the past can be worse . . .

Meanwhile, Jack Reacher sets out on an epic road trip across America. He doesn't get far. Deep in the New England woods, he sees a sign to a place he has never been - the town where his father was born. But when he arrives he is told no one named Reacher ever lived there. Now he wonders: who's lying?

As the tension ratchets up and these two stories begin to entwine, the stakes have never been higher for Reacher.

That's for damn sure.

_________

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be read in any order, Past Tense is the 23rd in the series.

And be sure not to miss Reacher's newest adventure, no.29, In Too Deep! ***OUT NOW***

I'm slightly disappointed as I've really enjoyed previous adventures of JR This story line doesn't grab you from the start and I was still saying to myself that it must get better half way through the book. The storyline isn't what you'd expect when making a considered purchase based on previous JR adventures and storytelling from Lee Child. It's as if there's been a change of editors and no-one had the balls to say that this book is going to devalue the Reacher brand I await the next installment and hope a return to previous form

I don't quite understand what's happened to this series in the last 7-8 years. It went from every book being gripping and full of those atmospheric moments where you felt right in the heart of the locations and story, to suddenly finding things slow, plodding, uninteresting and lacking any intrigue. I really hope this isn't the end. For me, the following titles (in no particular order) have that winning formula and I love each of them because they get it right. If anyone can put their finger on why and how they're different please say! Killing Floor The Enemy Persuader The Hard Way Bad Luck & Trouble One Shot Worth Dying For In my opinion, A Wanted Man is perhaps the worst. A Wanted Man spends almost the entire book with Reacher in a car thinking that something is odd before a rushed ending. I've just finished Past Tense and thought for a while it was getting back to basics and was enjoying it, until the two random stories came together rushedly with a dissatisfying ending. Gutted

I just finished Past Tense and honestly I almost didnt read it at all after the first couple of chapters. It was like someone else trying to write about Jack Reacher. I kept putting it down and had to makemyself pick,it up each time. It took me days to read it and I oonly kept at it because I thought by some miracle it would get better, but it was just rubbish.
