Nita is traveling to find her lost relative. She thought she was completely alone after her parents were killed by poachers. She found out about this cousin in a letter that belonged to her grandfather. She is hoping that he is a good person and is happy to see her. She has been alone for so long. She wants to be able to do something about poachers that are killing shifters as well. She decides to find a place to rest in the woods she is traveling and take a bath. She feels someone watching her. Vic left behind all his responsibilities after the death of his parents. He ran into the woods and has stayed there. He left his brother to deal with being the Alpha of the Panthers. He just could not deal with any of it. The grief still has his heart. He smells something traveling in his woods. He follows the scent to a woman bathing in the river. She grabs his attention Nita calls Vic out of his hiding place, he goes to her. They both have a reaction to each other. They both just think it is because they have been on their own for so long. Things will get complicated between them and they both don't want to admit the truth This was a easy story to read, it moved at a nice pace. It takes away for awhile. I recommend reading this book I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sweet read about finding lost family. There are many ways of being lost and this book covers two. This short read shows two shifters finding love in an unexpected way. I really enjoyed Vic and Nita's story. This spin off does have minor spoilers for the Paranormal Council series. They do not take away from the story but if wanting to read the series keep this in mind.

I think one of the things I loved most about this book is the wonderful range of experiences that the characters go through and the emotions that are so profound and hit you in the gut. My heart broke for Vic. His grief after the loss of his parents was just too much for him to deal with and there was no way he could see himself having what it takes to take his place as head of his pack so he leaves everything behind to go and lick his proverbial wounds. Nita has experienced her own share of tragedy and has spent much of her life alone but when she hears that she may have a cousin alive she cannot help but go in search but along the way she meets Vic and these two damaged people with too much pain in common help each other heal and will Vic find the courage to face the pack he abandoned and finally face up to his responsibilities?
