Ani and Nik are still in Paris and must deal with the consequences of what they found in the catacombs of Paris. This one was cute and easy to read as Ani deals with her feeling and learning all is not well in the Paris priests. There were moments that had me laughing and shaking my head too. But enjoyed watching these two sticking around and deal with what they found. Liked seeing old and fairly new characters in this story and Ani's interactions with them.

Rituals. This book is about how difficult it is to show the dead the respect and honor they deserve, even when their remains have decayed. I like how Ani decides to trust Hotep, to help him and encourage him to develop his own ideas. The author has once again managed to tell this exciting story sensitively and to incorporate Egyptian mythology.

Transitions and changes as things evolve. Nik and Ani face new challenges in the face of distress and so many changes. Family is difficult, as their new relationship status develops as well. Bittersweet and sometimes wrenching.
