Sir Clifford is a British ex-pat running a film production company, and Connie is his neglected wife, at a loose end until she hires Olivia Mellors to take charge of landscaping the grounds in their mansion-like home.
When Clifford brings home a new buxom production assistant, he pushes Connie further away and she finds herself thrust more and more into the world of Olivia and her work. The two become ever closer, but can a chalk and cheese relationship between a white privilege woman and a combative, dark-skinned, southern working girl ever succeed?
