Nulla di quanto la luce della sua mente ha raggiunto è rimasto immutato. In particolare i Vangeli, come se la via regale per capirli non passasse da Gerusalemme, ma da Atene. Il Verbo come mediatore, il soprannaturale e l'innaturale, la bellezza del mondo, il giusto punito, la sventura: sono alcuni dei temi che Simone Weil affronta in questi scritti, non più nella forma altamente condensata dei "Quaderni", ma in una trattazione distesa, come chiarendo in primo luogo a se stessa le sue abbaglianti intuizioni.
