The work done by Bhagini Nivedita in the field of education, literature, arts and spirituality is astounding. Yet, much of it is still unveiled. Her support to the armed revolution is now coming to surface. Swami Vivekananda had himself had her tested before allowing her to shoulder the responsibility of work related to freedom of country rather than being stuck at freedom of self. She did not hesitate to embrace the way of armed revolution. Her logistic support helped Indians profusely in the freedom fight.

जन्माने आयरिश असणाऱ्या भगिनी निवेदिता यांचे मूळ नाव मार्गारेट एलिझाबेथ नोबेल असे होते. २८ ऑक्टोबर १८६७ रोजी उत्तर आयर्लंडमधील टायरन प्रांतातील डनगॅनन या लहानशा शहरात त्यांचा जन्म झाला. लहानपणापासूनच त्यांच्यावर देशभक्ती, परोपकार यांचेच संस्कार झाले होते. स्वामी विवेकानंदांच्या विचारांनी प्रेरित होऊन मार्गारेट आपले कुटुंब, घर सोडून देशाची सेवा करण्याच्या उद्देशाने भारतात आली आणि इथल्या मातीशी, समाजाशी, समाजाच्या सुखदुःखांशी एकरूप झाली. हिंदू धर्मातील आचार-विचारांचा तिच्यावर जबरदस्त प्रभाव पडला. हिंदू धर्माचे उगमस्थान असणाऱ्या भारतावर तिचे नितांत प्रेम होते.
