Rudyard Kipling (December 30, 1865- January 18, 1936) was one of the most popular writers in English in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He achieved distinction in every genre he wroteтАФshort story, novel, childrenтАЩs literature, poetry, travel literature and science fiction. KiplingтАЩs best known works include The Jungle Book, The Second Jungle Book, Just So Stories, Puck of PookтАЩs Hill, Kim, Mandalay, Gunga Din, The Man Who Would Be King, LifeтАЩs Handicap, The DayтАЩs Work, and plain Tales from the Hills. He was awarded the Noble Prize in Literature in 1907, making him the first English language writer to receive the prize.
