About this ebook

Son of the Shadows is the sequel to Juliet Marillier's evocative first novel Daughter of the Forest.

It continues the saga of beautiful Sorcha, the courageous young woman who risked all to save her family from a wicked curse and whose love shattered generations of hate and bridged two cultures.

It is from her sacrifice that her brothers were brought home to Sevenwaters and her life has known much joy. But not all the brothers were able to escape the spell that transformed them into swans, and those who did were all more--and less--than they were before the change.

It is left to Sorcha's daughter Liadan who will take up the tale that the Sevenwaters clan is destined to fulfill. Beloved child, dutiful daughter, she embarks on a journey that opens her eyes to the wonders of the world around her...and shows her just how hard-won was the peace that she has known all her life.

Liadan will need all of her courage to help save her family, for there are forces far darker than anyone chould have guessed and ancient powers conspiring to destroy this family's peace--and their world. And she will need the strength to stand up to those she loves best, for in the finding of her own true love, Liadan's course may doom them all...or be their salvation.

There is a reason for this trilogy being my favorite, i first read Daughter of the Forest when i turned sixteen years old, so as you can imagine this book caught my attention. I was searching for something that would excite my senses, and was well worded and organized. This book dipped me into every feeling imaginable. Love, hate, fear, excitment, resentment, betrayal. This book brought more to the plate than silly vampire romance novels (Twilight). Now the second book has brought us back to Sevenwaters a place both beautiful and mysterious, and filled with adventures. I can relate to what Liadan goes through in this book, and that is the reason that this book is so amazing. Juliet Marillier is my favorite author and I have read every one of her books including her newest edition, Heart's Blood. I find her writing to be elegant and fanciful while keeping it very real. Have fun and i recommend everyone of her books to anyone looking for a romantic adventure.

I must have reread the entire Sevenwaters Series at least 8 times and I have never tired of it! Juliet Marillier created a world that is both genuinely realistic and full of deep emotions yet seamlessly mixed with the uncanny and magical. It transports us into the reality of life in the Middle Ages during the difficult time of trying to hold on to the Old Ways in the face of Christianity. Her books are full of historically accurate landmarks and events. Yet she still adds the druidic, magical and fey components into that same world, living together side by side. This is by far my favorite historical fiction and fantasy series of all time.
