Welche Rolle spielt Moral beim Kauf und Konsum von Lebensmitteln? Um diese Frage zu beantworten, untersucht Jonas Grauel den Alltag ›gewöhnlicher‹ Menschen – anstelle vordefinierter Gruppen wie z.B. Bio-Käufer. Er arbeitet vier Orientierungsmuster heraus (Verantwortung, Authentizität, Selbstsorge, Bescheidenheit) und zeichnet nach, wie sich moralische Urteile in sozialen Beziehungen entwickeln. Schließlich zeigt der Autor, dass Konsummoral auch zur Distinktion von Gruppen mit höherem bzw. niedrigerem Sozialstatus dienen kann. Die Ergebnisse offenbaren: Moral ist in routinisierte Praktiken ›eingeschrieben‹, doch aufgrund der praktischen und ethischen Komplexität des Alltags liegt ein ›richtiger‹ Konsum keineswegs auf der Hand.
