About the author

JOHN BUNYAN was born in November, 1628, in Elstow, England. A Puritan minister and author, he wrote The Pilgrim's Progress, a book that has been published for centuries and continues to provide the most characteristic expression of the Puritan religious outlook. His other works include doctrinal and controversial writings and his spiritual autobiography, Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners. L. Edward Hazelbaker has edited two other Pure Gold Classics.
