'I feel like I'm in a nightmare I can't wake up from.' Jessica R. Patch is a huge favorite of mine and I never miss her books. They are all on my shelves and some I've read more than once. She is a master at inspirational romantic suspense. She has a mind that thinks up great plots and characters and great bad guys. If you can call a bad guy great, that is. Here she has created characters that just absolutely leap off the page. Agent Duke Jericho was one and he was super cool! I loved him from the minute he walked onto the page and into my heart. This story was so good, too. A cold case crime where the killer decides he needs to up his game and begins again and the clues are few and far between. But there is a new wrinkle in the case, one that is threatening the woman trying to solve the crime, police officer and artist Brigitte Linsey. Can they solve the crime before the killer takes his ultimate victim? Will Duke and Brigitte let God paint their story? (Pun intended) I loved this story so much. I always eagerly anticipate Patch's next book. I highly recommend her work. Well done! My thanks to Love Inspired for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.

In the first couple of pages, you not only get a very important setting for the book, you also learn much about one of the main characters, Brigette. Before you think badly of that, let me give you the first sentence of the book: Any other woman might recoil at the chilling howl of the cunning and opportunistic coyote, but not Brigitte Linsey. And now, you want to know why not her, right? Jessica Patch brings her characters into your life. The action is almost non-stop!
