Jennie Marts is an author that is not afraid to delve into all the pieces that shape a person into who they are and have yet to become. Stolen Away was the most recent example of that skill. Years of neglect and abuse mentally and physically has left Emma unsure of herself and scared to trust. Cash is the man who gently breaks through and gives her the strength to face her past. Protecting her becomes his priority, teaching him the meaning of love becomes hers. I am a fan of stories of courage and Stolen Away is a redemption story that makes the heart rejoice.

This is a fun read in the series, Hearts of Montana. In it we meet Cash, a confirmed bachelor that won't ever give a woman more than a night, and Emma, a terrified and skittish woman escaping from her past. They both feel broken inside, but feel an intense attraction to each other. Before things go too far, Emma's past repeatedly comes back to torment her. Cash responds by allowing the darkness within him to come out to protect her. The subject matter in this novel might be tough for some readers as it focuses on domestic abuse. While this book is part of a series, it is a stand alone novel. Fans of the genre will enjoy this novel.

Having read the previous books in this series I was excited to see Cash getting his own book. I loved being able to get a good inside look into the mind of Cash. Hard on the outside, soft on the inside, with a cowboy hat to boot! What's not to love? Emma, sweet sweet Emma! She blossomed and grew from cover to cover in this book. There were times I wasn't sure she would handle herself they way I expected and she surprised me the whole way through. If you want a bitter sweet beginning and a spectacular ending , this book is for you! Jennie Marts writes her characters with heart, but makes them seem so real with their imperfections.
