About this ebook

Beautiful, spirited heiress McKenna Frasier–daughter to one of the Butte Copper Kings—vowed eternal love to Sinclair Douglas before she left for college and an introduction to society.  Four years in New York and travel abroad have opened her eyes, making her realize she wanted more than marriage and a simple Montana life.  But when McKenna commits an unforgivable transgression and destroys her reputation, her dreams are shattered and she is forced to return to Montana disgraced, disowned and unmarriageable.

Sinclair Douglas left Butte to escape the Frasier power and Frasier name, but suddenly all anyone talks about in Marietta is scandalous McKenna Douglas, Paradise Valley’s new teacher.  Sin doesn’t want to know about McKenna anymore.  He doesn’t want to have to help her, and he sure as hell doesn’t want to love her.  But McKenna has lived so long in his heart that it’s her home–even if she doesn’t deserve to be there.

But if there is one man who knows how to rebuild a life when all dreams have been smashed, it’s fierce, uncompromising Sinclair Douglas.  Can Sinclair and McKenna heal enough to find their own Christmas miracle, and one more chance at love?

Away in Montana by Jane Porter is book number one in the Paradise Valley Ranch series. This is McKenna Frasier and Sinclair Douglas' story. This story takes place in 1889. Things were definitely different during that time especially for women. If a woman made a mistake, it could cost her everything. McKenna and Sinclair 'Sin' have a history and their relationship did not end well. McKenna has been forced to return to Montana due to her reputation being destroyed. She has also been disowned by her wealthy father. McKenna is lucky to get a job teaching school. Sinclair doesn't want to help McKenna or love her. But, will Sinclair move on with his life or take a chance on McKenna again? Will McKenna and Sinclair get a second chance at love? This story was an emotional and sweet romance during a difficult time for woman. Be prepared for surprises and twists in this story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I loved this book! I really like a good historical romance. Being transported to frontier Montana and getting a peek at what life may have been like back then is such a treat. McKenna and Sinclair were great characters. She is trying to get on her feet after being disowned by her father and dropped from high society. Sinclair has made it on his own in Montana through hard work. Although they were childhood friends, things had changed between them. I loved seeing how much they still cared for each other after years apart.

McKenna, the fallen daughter has returned to live her life as a teacher. Most of her town has spurned her, but the love she left behind, Sinclair has shown her grace. It's obvious they still love each other, but they need to forgive each other while McKenna must learn marriage is not giving up independence. Several obstacles and a mine accident puts their love to the test. McKenna promises to marry him if he survives and Sinclair holds her to that promise. This second chance love set in the late 1800s Montana is a beautiful love and Christmas story!
