Zdenek Salzmann is professor emeritus of anthropology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. A specialist in Native American languages and folklore, he is also the author (with his wife, Joy), of Native Americans in the Southwest (1997, Westview Press). He has held guest professorships at Yale University, and the University of Freiburg in Germany, and has been visiting professor at several universities in the Czech Republic. James Stanlaw is professor of anthropology at Illinois State University. He is the author of Japanese English: Language and Culture Contact. Nobuko Adachi is associate professor of anthropology at Illinois State University. She is the author of Japanese Diasporas: Unsung Pasts, Conflicting Presents, and Uncertain Futures.
