About this ebook

In James Herbert's The Dark, madness rages as the lights begin to fade and humanity is attacked by an ancient, unstoppable evil . . .

It came like a malignant shadow with seductive promises of power. And somewhere in the night . . . a small girl smiled as her mother burned . . . Asylum inmates slaughtered their attendants . . . in slimy tunnels once-human creatures gathered.

This is the second book I've read by him and I just can't put my finger on it, but it just doesn't land with me. Everything always feels, by the numbers and predictable. The story has been done before and better in my opinion. It just feels like it lacks that psychological punch needed by great horror stories

Another fantastic James Herbert triumph. Downloaded the book on the tuesday and finished by thursday! i couldnt put it down right up until the nail biting climax. My heart was racing on every page. Get ready to stay up all night (with the lights firmly on!) this one will scare the living daylights out of you...

First James Herbet book for me and went into it with great expectations from reading some reviews but by chapter 10 a was a little bored of the writing style. Putting it down for now, may pick it up again later if i'm stuck for something to read.
