You know everything about your husband. Don’t you?

He loves you. He loves your children. He’d never put his family in danger.

One of these is a lie.

It started like any other day at the hairdressers where Sally works as a stylist... until her first client innocently shows her a family photograph; a photograph that causes Sally to collapse in shock.

In one moment, Sally discovers that Tom has been hiding an explosive secret – one that could tear apart the life they’ve built together. Faced with an impossible dilemma - search for the truth, or keep her contented life? – Sally is about to discover that even those closest to us have secrets... and that sometimes the truth is the last thing we want to hear.

A completely gripping, suspenseful psychological thriller that fans of T.M. Logan, My Lovely Wife and K.L. Slater won't be able to put down.

Wow what an intense and suspenseful read! The Secrets He Kept grabs you right from the start and doesn’t let go till the final page, where it all wraps up with an ending that will knock your socks off! I still get chills when I think about it. It is addictive, thrilling with twists and turns that keep you second guessing everything, which are the perfect ingredients for a great psychological thriller. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case, it brings up a thousand questions. When Sally is shown a photo of a man and a teenage boy, her perfect world comes crashing down when she is told they are father and son. Why? because the man in the photo is Sally’s husband Tom! What follows is Sally’s journey in finding out the truth and how she must face that she may have never really known the man she has had children with and been married to for the last fifteen years. The characters in this story are both a mix of likeable and unlikeable. I liked Sally and could feel her pain when finding out the man that she has held on such a high pedestal throughout their marriage, is not the man she thought him to be. I did not like the character of Tom, but in saying that he has been written extremely well to make me have these feelings. Jackie has a very easy style and excels in getting the readers attention right from the start. She has expertly built tension throughout, where she then cleverly adds another layer as she steers the story in a more sinister direction which just intensifies the tension even more in the lead up to the jaw dropping conclusion. I really enjoyed this and it gave the story much more depth. Jackie is a new author to me and one that will definitely be on my radar from now on. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review The Secrets He Kept which I recommend. Thank-you to NetGalley, Hera and Jackie Walsh for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Secrets He Kept which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

A good read and I enjoyed the mystery as it progressed to its curious end, although that felt a little unfinished with the final revelation. I'd have liked to know what happened next. One tiny critique though that jumped off the page when in the first pages, Amber calls her mother "Mom" As this is set in Ireland I did not expect the use of the American form of mother. She reverted back to Mammy, a more accurate naming of an Irish mother for the rest of the book. Sorry to be pedantic but when something doesn't fit, I tend to notice it.

Sally was just sometimes annoying with all the back and forth one minute angry and the next she is okay with all that mess.Tom got off to easy to much drama but all and all a nice read.
