Every victim has a voice with which to cry out against God or cry out to him. In Innocence Lost: Rebuilding After Victimization, biblical counseling expert David Powlison encourages all who have been victimized to find their voice in Scripture, guiding them through Psalm 10’s process of crying out, expressing pain, and confessing faith. The psalmist’s honest requests and thoughtful analysis become a springboard to knowing God in the midst of personal pain. Powlison’s framework teaches those who have been victimized to think clearly and use their voices to cry out to God, positioning them to experience the restoration that comes through walking by faith.

David Powlison, MDiv, PhD, (1949–2019) was a teacher, counselor, and the executive director of the Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation (CCEF). He wrote many books and minibooks, including Speaking Truth in Love, Seeing with New Eyes, The Biblical Counseling Movement: History and Context, Good and Angry: Redeeming Anger, Irritation, Complaining, and Bitterness, Making All Things New: Restoring Joy to the Sexually Broken, God's Grace in Your Suffering, and Safe and Sound. David was also the editor of The Journal of Biblical Counseling.
