Imraan Valodia is professor of Economics and dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. His research interests include employment, the informal economy, gender and economic policy, and industrial development. He is a part-time member of the Competition Tribunal and a commissioner on the South African Employment Conditions Commission

Simon Roberts is a professor of economics and executive director of the Centre for Competition, Regulation and Economic Development (CCRED) at the University of Johannesburg.
