Brighton Supermax Prison. It’s where the most dangerous and deranged supernatural criminals have been imprisoned since a meteor slammed into a ley-line running across the eastern seaboard ten years ago. It’s also home to Nikos Volkov, a notoriously dangerous vampire running an empire he controls even from prison.

The SBI thinks something is going on, that there’s a definitive pattern to the supernaturals that have been incarcerated there—which must mean the inmates are up to something. I don’t know if they’re right, but I do know my gut is telling me it’s not a coincidence. My gut is never wrong.

But it won’t be as simple as posing as inmates. I’m being assigned a rookie partner who is greener than green. I’ll have to keep us both alive and our fragile cover stories intact. Because if Nikos gains even a whiff of SBI presence, we’re both dead before we find out what he and others might be planning.

One thing’s for sure: after everything I’ve experienced over the last ten years, I know there’s no such thing as a coincidence.
