What is needed is to change the perception in the minds of the international business community about weaknesses in international Arbitration held in India. This change can only be brought about by self regulation of the arbitrators and lawyers community to ensure the highest standards are maintained by the arbitrators. For example, the Court appointing Arbitrators only from retired Judges needs to be changed along with the practice of giving adjournments of the hearing without real progress at the hearings fixed by the tribunal.
