Everyone has heard of Huckleberry Pie, Huckleberry Finn and Huckleberry Hound, but what are huckleberries?

Huckleberries are the state fruit in Idaho. They are small, tasty round berries that resemble blueberries. In fact, in some parts of the United States, huckleberries are sometimes called blueberries. However, blueberries and huckleberries are a bit different.

Different species of huckleberries range in color from bright red to dark purple to blue.

Huckleberries can be added to pies, jam, muffins, pancakes or sauces. They are the official state fruit of Idaho.
